EmergeOrtho – Coastal Region offers advanced orthopedic and spine care throughout southeastern North Carolina. Our full-service offices include an extensive, highly trained staff that includes fellowship-trained, board-certified experts in every specialty.
EmergeOrtho offers 13 full-service orthopedic medical offices, 16 physical therapy locations (hand therapy available in select locations), and six orthopedic-specialized urgent care offices throughout the following southeastern North Carolina counties: Brunswick, Carteret, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender. Most locations offer advanced MRI diagnostics, physical and occupational therapies, and same-day appointments.
Dr. McConekey joined EmergeOrtho in 2025 after practicing in Wilmington for 23 years, bringing vast experience in a wide range of conditions of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Preuss completed his residency at the UCLA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Los Angeles. He then completed a Sports, Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, where he worked with the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC and Charlotte Knights.
EmergeOrtho serves as the sports medicine team physicians for UNCW Athletics, the Wilmington Sharks, Cape Fear Community College and many of our area high school athletes. Most recently, EmergeOrtho provided coverage for the top athletes at the 2024 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships.
