At EmergeOrtho: Foothills Region, we have the highest number of fellowship-trained surgeons in the region, and all of our doctors are board-certified or board-eligible.
Why does fellowship trained matter? Fellowship-trained surgeons spend an additional year after their required five years of general orthopedic training to focus on a specific speciality, such as joint replacement, upper or lower extremities, and sports medicine. Fellowships allow physicians to become recognized experts in their area of focus.
What does board-certified mean? Board certification goes above and beyond the basic medical license, requiring the surgeon to meet specific education and exam requirements. A board-certified surgeon has proven skills, which include an advanced focus on patient safety and quality, as well as using the latest techniques and advances in orthopedic medicine.
