Look to robotic-assisted orthopedic surgery for increased accuracy, less pain, and shorter recovery times
Because we are committed to remaining abreast of advancements in surgical technology and techniques, EmergeOrtho has not only pursued robotics-assisted technology, we have led the region in this state-of-the-art surgery.
EmergeOrtho Coastal Region currently offers the Mako SmartRobotics™ and ROSA® Robotic Knee System for partial and total knee replacements, as well as Mazor X for many different spine surgeries. We anticipate expanding robotic surgery in other areas in the near future.
Robotic Knee Replacement from Two Revolutionary Systems: Mako SmartRobotics™ & ROSA® Robotic Knee System
The surgeons of EmergeOrtho chose the Mako and ROSA systems for their consistency and proven outcomes. Both systems produce real-time imaging and data that allow for extraordinary precision. Surgeons are able to align the joint with a precise degree of accuracy, which results in optimal motion and function for the patient.
The Mako by Stryker is more than a simple robot. It is a system that begins with a CT based 3D model of patients anatomical joint. This allows the surgeon to review a perioperative plan, which includes sizing and positioning of your components. The plan is then optimized at the time of the surgical intervention. Once finalized, the robotic assisted arm enters the field and throughout the procedure, the surgeon controls the arm manually. With Mako’s patented Accustop haptic technology, there is significantly less soft tissue injury and precise bone resection. Which leads to overall better component alignment, less pain, faster recovery and higher patient satisfaction scores.

The ROSA® Knee System is equally precise and individualized, bringing together the advanced robotic technology with industry-leading knee implants. The ROSA’s intraoperative smart assistant ensures highly accurate bone resections and ligament balancing to produce a personalized joint replacement.
See how the ROSA Robotic Knee System works:
Potential Patient Benefits of Robotic Knee Replacement
- less need for opiates due to less pain
- quicker recovery due to smaller incisions
- reduced need for physical therapy
- improved knee flexion and better protection of surrounding tissue and bone
Robotic-Assisted Spine Surgery with The Mazor X Robotic System
The Mazor X robot allows for 3-D targeting of the patient’s spine, giving the surgeon remarkable vision of the surgical area and allowing for a very accurate and highly individualized map of each patient. While the robotic arm brings the cannula to the exact spot, the surgeon controls the incision, inserting the device and removing the material.
