Dr. Nathan Christie is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain specialist at EmergeOrtho—Triangle Region. His extensive training and experience in pain management make him a valuable member of the EmergeOrtho team. He works with other pain doctors as well as surgeons to collaborate and bring patients the best care possible.

Dr. Christie focuses on neck, back, spine, and joint pain. He works with patients to create individualized pain management services using a variety of innovative treatments and therapies. He sees patients at the Burlington and Chapel Hill offices.

Education and Expertise

Dr. Christie graduated from the University of Wisconsin and then earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He trained in two residency programs, one in general surgery at the University of North Carolina and another in anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Christie has also completed a fellowship at Weill Cornell Tri-Institute and trained at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Memorial Sloane Kettering, and New York Presbyterian. He trained residents and fellows in pain management while on the faculty at Duke University. He also completed a course in medical acupuncture at the Academy of Pain Research in San Francisco.

As a pain management specialist, Dr. Christie has extensive training in helping people who struggle with chronic pain. His treatments help patients manage and get relief from pain, increase mobility, and improve quality of life. He specializes in treating:
