A Specialized Center for State-of-the-Art Wound Care
The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center, an outpatient clinic of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, enables EmergeOrtho to offer directed, specialized care for problem wounds that have not responded to traditional treatment plans. Our dedicated, specialty-trained providers take time to provide our patients with vital education on how to care for these wounds and how to avoid future recurrences. Each comprehensive treatment plan is coordinated to provide maximal healing in minimal time to allow the patient to return to normal activities as soon as possible.
The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center employs a team of health care providers who are experts in diagnosing and treating non-healing wounds, including:
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Arterial insufficiency ulcers
- Non-healing surgical wounds
- Traumatic wounds
- Pressure ulcers

- Other non-healing wounds
During each clinic visit, we examine your wound and take time to discuss and review any test results that you have had. We take time to thoroughly explain the next steps in your tailored treatment plan. With your permission, we will communicate with your primary care physician so that he or she can stay updated on your progress.
Wound therapy at EmergeOrtho may include the following treatments:
- Improving medical comorbidities and nutritional status
- Advanced dressing care

During your first visit, you should expect:
A thorough medical history and physical examination, including reviews of recent medical visits, pertinent lab tests or imaging studies.
If necessary, tests will be ordered to fully evaluate the cause of the wound.
We will create a customized health care plan and treatment will be initiated.
If appropriate, you or a family member may be instructed on dressing changes, or home health will be requested to perform dressing changes at your home.
