Christina Nix, previously Childers, is a certified athletic trainer who joined our EmergeOrtho team in 2021. Her primary responsibility at EmergeOrtho is to provide athletic training services to the student-athletes at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC. She works under the supervision of R. Andrew Collins, MD and other EmergeOrtho physicians. Together they deliver sports medicine services with the best interest of the student-athlete in mind.

From a young age, Christina participated in sports. As an athlete, she became interested in the profession of athletic training. She continued her athletic career as a member of the Women’s Basketball team at Greensboro College. While playing basketball, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Greensboro College. Christina’s desire to learn more about athletic training and to advance her education led her to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned her Master of Science in Athletic Training to prepare her and to be eligible for the Board of Certification (BOC) Examination for Athletic Trainers. As a certified athletic trainer, Christina is passionate about helping student-athletes recover as quickly and a safely as possible.

As the Head Certified Athletic Trainer at Northwest Guilford High School, Christina provides preventive care, injury & illness evaluations, as well as treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, and chronic medical conditions. She provides awareness, education, and intervention to minimize the risk of injury and illness of the student-athletes. Christina uses her knowledge to complete both on and off the field evaluations to determine a plan of care and/or medical referral when necessary. Christina strives to provide a safe environment for all student-athletes.
