Dr. Peter Mangone just returned from Bordeaux, France where he served as an expert faculty and symposium member for the first ever Sports Medicine Ankle Instability Global Seminar. Dr. Mangone is recognized as a pioneer and an expert in the field of foot and ankle surgery, specifically as relates to arthroscopic ankle lateral ligament reconstruction. The expert panel was comprised of 12 orthopedic surgeons from 6 different countries.
Dr. Mangone presented his ArthroBrostrom technique to the symposium members. He also spent time learning additional cutting edge arthroscopic techniques in lateral ankle ligament reconstruction from his international colleagues. These techniques have the potential to provide patients with less postoperative swelling and smaller incisions than normal open techniques.
In addition to presenting his technique at the meeting, Dr. Mangone will be a co-author with the other members of this International Sports Medicine Ankle Instability symposium. The group of experts has been asked to submit a manuscript detailing the current state of lateral ankle ligament surgery.
