Yashika Amin, MD

Yashika Amin, MD is a board-certified physician with fellowship training in sports medicine. As a sports medicine physician, Dr. Amin has extensive specialized training in injury prevention, as well as diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, tendon, ligaments, and joints) injuries & conditions. She cares for athletes and non-athletes. Dr. Amin will provide comprehensive patient-centered orthopedic care at EmergeOrtho’s Asheboro Orthopedic Clinic when opening in the Spring of 2024. She is currently accepting new patients at EmergeOrtho Greensboro | Orthopedic Clinic.

Growing up in England, Dr. Amin began playing soccer and swimming when she was young. She developed and appreciation for sports medicine providers and their role in caring for athletes and physically active individuals. She decided to pursue a career in sports medicine as she knew it could be the perfect blend of interest in athletics and medicine. Upon graduating from Boston University, where she completed her undergraduate degree, she spent time in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound research at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. The research allowed her to evaluate rotator cuff injuries due to repetitive overhead sports in elite athletes of the 2008 USA Olympic Swim Team. Through this work, she became interested in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Following residency, she chose to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine to implement ultrasound into her practice and become more specialized. Dr. Amin enjoys performing both ultrasound-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedure, knowing these skills have improved the care she provides to patients. “Being able to follow a patient’s progression and serve as an integral part of their journey to becoming a healthier version of themselves” is what Dr. Amin says inspires her work ethic. She firmly believes exercise is medicine and promotes wellness by encouraging patients to be physically active.
