As a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Dart specializes in minimally invasive and cutting edge sports medicine techniques. His practice is focused on helping patients meet their functional goals, recognizing that no two people are alike and a partnership between the patient and the treatment team is required for the optimal outcome of alleviating pain and resuming an active lifestyle.

Education and Training
Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Dr. Dart graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree from James Madison University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Virginia Tech’s Carilion School of Medicine where he was at the top of his class and inducted into the esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. While at VTC, he was honored by his peer election into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his exceptionally compassionate care for his patients.

Dr. Dart completed his orthopedic residency training with OrthoCarolina at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Following residency, he completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine surgery at the University of Virginia. During fellowship, Dr. Dart specialized in returning patients back to a high level of activity through some of the most innovative surgical techniques available today.

Dr. Dart has taken care of athletes at the professional and amateur levels and is part of the EmergeOrtho team that provides care for local high schools and UNCW Athletics.

Dr. Dart offers a variety of specialized services such as:

  • ACL reconstruction, repair or complex revision
  • Cartilage injury to the ankle, knee or shoulder
  • Comprehensive shoulder surgery
    • Minimally invasive (arthroscopic) rotator cuff repair/labral repair
    • Complex open surgery including bone grafting or joint replacement
  • Hip preservation surgery
    • Postless hip arthroscopy for labral repair and femoro-acetabular impingement
  • Multi-ligamentous knee injuries
  • Patellar dislocation and/or trochlear dysplasia surgery (Trochleoplasty)
  • Direct anterior approach hip replacements
  • Outpatient/Same-day joint replacements
  • Partial (unicompartmental) knee replacements
  • Robotic-assisted joint replacement

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Dart enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
