Dr. Ryan McCarter is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and fellowship-trained in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He now serves as a physician for the EmergeOrtho – Triangle Region on the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Management teams. He specializes in non-surgical orthopedic and spine treatments, including image-guided spine and joint injections utilizing fluoroscopy and ultrasound, electrodiagnostic testing, and minimally invasive procedures. Dr. McCarter is dedicated to providing care that centers on each patient individually, focusing on improving overall function and quality of life.

Education and Expertise:

Dr. McCarter was born and raised in Cambridge, Maryland, a small town nestled on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. He earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology at East Carolina University and then went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He then went on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Carolinas Rehab in Charlotte, NC. After completion of his residency, he completed a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Atrium health, Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC.
