Dr. Maxy completed his undergraduate degree at Columbia College of Columbia University in New York. He subsequently completed his medical training at the New York University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Honors Medical Society. He returned to Columbia University to complete an orthopedic residency, followed by a spinal surgery fellowship at the prestigious Kenton D. Leatherman Spine Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Maxy has authored a number of scientific papers and has made presentations at national orthopedic and North American Spine Society meetings.
He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in treating adult and pediatric spinal disorders. His interests include the use of a variety of techniques including minimally invasive lumbar laminectomy and fusion procedures.
His practice encompasses the treatment of a wide variety of spinal conditions including scoliosis, lumbar degenerative disorders, disc herniations, and spinal neoplasm.
Dr. Maxy joined EmergeOrtho in August of 2000 and serves the Catawba County community. He resides in Hickory with his wife, Rachele, and two very energetic sons.
