Get To Know Dr. DeSaix - Podiatric Surgeon and Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Specialist

Dr. Anna DeSaix is one of the newest podiatric surgeons at EmergeOrthoTriangle Region. She has 20 years of experience working as a foot and ankle specialist and is thrilled to be in North Carolina to work with patients in the Triangle Region.

Dr. DeSaix specializes in all types of foot and ankle and podiatry care, from the simplest injuries and conditions to complicated orthopedic injuries. She focuses on conservative care, saving surgical solutions as a last resort. Her favorite part of working in podiatry is helping patients feel better and enjoy a better quality of life.

Dr. DeSaix is From North Carolina

Although she has been practicing podiatry in St. Louis for the last 20 years, Dr. DeSaix is a native of North Carolina. She was born and raised in Chapel Hill and earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

She left North Carolina after graduation to begin her career in podiatry. She attended the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois. She then moved to Missouri for a residency at DePaul Medical Center in St. Louis and began her career there.

Dr. DeSaix recently made the big decision to move back to her home state. She wanted to be closer to her family in North Carolina.

Finding a Career in Podiatry

Dr. DeSaix knew she wanted to be a doctor from a very young age, playing pretend doctor with her pet dog who did not always appreciate it. As she got older, Dr. DeSaix was lucky to have excellent career advice from her mother, a health professions adviser at UNC. She helped her explore medical careers and settled on podiatry.

Treating Patients

As a podiatrist, Dr. DeSaix helps patients with a variety of foot-related issues, from skin conditions to orthopedic issues. Some of the typical conditions she treats include:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendinitis
  • Foot fractures
  • Bunions
  • Hammertoe
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Warts
  • Athlete’s foot

A rewarding part of her role as a podiatrist is being able to provide many patients with instant relief. Many of the conditions she sees patients for are quickly treatable, and she enjoys helping those people walk out of the office feeling better immediately.

When Dr. DeSaix treats patients with more complicated conditions, she finds it rewarding, as well. They take longer to treat and heal, but she loves being able to help improve the quality of life for all her patients.

Working With EmergeOrtho

Dr. DeSaix enjoys working with podiatry patients at EmergeOrtho because she is part of a supportive team. She loves that everyone on staff is dedicated to helping each other succeed rather than competing with each other.

She appreciates that the environment at EmergeOrtho is positive, uplifting, and ideal for helping patients feel better. The entire team puts patients first using innovative orthopedic treatment and collaborating to get the best outcomes.

Outside of the Office

Outside of working hours, Dr. DeSaix enjoys being outdoors more than anything else. Her favorite pastime is playing golf. She takes it seriously, too, recently winning the women’s member tournament at her local golf club.

Dr. DeSaix’s other hobbies include woodworking, renovating homes, and anything that involves working with power tools, interests she picked up from her father.
