A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Ashraf Guirgues, MD, FAAOS, is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Guirgues received his Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He then completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, followed by a fellowship in spinal surgery at the Charlotte Spine Center.
Dr. Guirgues’ professional interests include the surgical treatment of spinal disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He particularly enjoys minimally invasive spinal surgery such as microdiscectomy and minimally invasive lumbar fusion. He is also qualified to perform artificial disc replacement in the neck and lower back.
A highly experienced and recognized leader in spine care throughout Carteret and Onslow Counties, he has served as the director of the Carolinas Center for Spine Surgery which includes a spinal surgeon, nurse practitioner, nurses, and physical therapists working as a cohesive team.
He previously practiced in New Hampshire before relocating to Carteret County in 2006.
Dr. Guirgues loves living on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast with his wife and three sons. In his free time, he enjoys skeet shooting.
Serving the coastal region, Dr. Guirgues offers skilled spinal care in Jacksonville, Morehead City, and Swansboro.
