If you get the Journal of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, you probably saw Dr. Viens cited in the cover ad!

After his residency in orthopedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Viens pursued a fellowship in orthopedic surgery of the foot and ankle at The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado.  Originally published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, his fellowship research is still referenced frequently today.  The two-part study was about treatment of lateral ankle ligament sprains and various techniques of secondary reconstructions, and allograft reconstructions.  These conditions are of particular interest to Dr. Viens, whose expertise from his fellowship has been further enhanced by his subsequent years specializing in Foot and Ankle at EmergeOrtho.

In addition to this article, he has co-authored publications in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, Foot and Ankle International, Journal of Arthroplasty, and Journal of Surgical Orthopedic Advances.  He also co-authored the introductory chapter of the latest AAOS/AOFAS textbook on ankle replacement with his fellowship mentor!
