Dr. Scott Playford is a graduate of Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Anderson Area Medical Center, Anderson, SC. Dr. Playford was a physician in the U.S. Navy, and in addition to his medical education, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree at East Carolina University. He also earned the National Capital Consortium Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. Playford specializes in sports, overuse and work injuries, including but not limited to the back, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. He offers a full range of state-of-the-art treatments, including injections.
As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Playford has obtained specialized training in the diagnosis and management of sports concussions. He offers a unique multidimensional approach to treatment by combining traditional sports medicine treatments with concussion management for athletes.
Dr. Playford is also known for his caring, listening approach, and his expertise in the athletic community. He is an active leader in local athletics as a member of the NC Boxing Commission and the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission, serving as a physician for USA Boxing, as well as a consultant and team physician with Onslow County Schools.
