Nabil Mehta, MD

As a highly trained and fellowship-certified orthopedic shoulder and elbow surgeon, Nabil Mehta, M.D., specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions related to the shoulder and elbow. His extensive expertise includes arthroscopic and open reconstructive techniques for managing shoulder and elbow problems, ranging from arthritis and cartilage loss to sports injuries and complex fractures. Dr. Mehta is also skilled in treating recurrent shoulder instability, rotator cuff injuries, and the effects of failed prior surgeries.

Education

Dr. Mehta earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed a prestigious research fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He obtained his medical degree from Brown University and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

His orthopedic surgery residency occurred at the highly respected Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he gained extensive experience working with athletes of all levels, including those from the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox. His advanced training in fracture surgery, arthroscopy, and shoulder and elbow procedures provided a solid foundation for his surgical expertise.

To become a shoulder and elbow specialist, Dr. Mehta completed a Shoulder and Elbow Surgery fellowship at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia, training with some of the world’s experts in complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction.
