Meet Dr. Meghan S. B. Hughes, MD

Dr. Meghan Hughes is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction. She completed fellowship at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Hughes earned her medical degree cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and holds a Master of Public Health with a Certificate in Global Health from Yale University. She completed her orthopaedic residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident and received multiple honors, including the Golden Hands Award.

Her clinical and research interests span complex foot and ankle surgery, biomechanics, and improving patient outcomes in orthopaedics. Dr. Hughes has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences. She is an active member of professional societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), where she serves on the Young Physicians Committee.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Hughes has a strong background in global health and public health research, with prior projects addressing HIV in South Africa and exercise interventions for cancer survivors. She is passionate about education and mentorship, having held teaching roles at Brown University, Yale, and the University of Maryland.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hughes enjoys traveling—having visited all seven continents—horseback riding, swimming, and exploring new coffee shops.
