Dr. Mark Messmer is a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon specializing in general orthopedics with a strong emphasis on sports medicine, joint replacement surgery, and fracture/trauma care. He is proud to care for patients at EmergeOrtho’s Roxboro and Oxford offices, where he is committed to restoring mobility and enhancing the quality of life for his patients.

Education and Expertise

Dr. Messmer completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University before earning his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He also earned a Master of Science in Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, further strengthening his dedication to teaching and advancing medical knowledge. He went on to complete his residency at LECOM Health – MCH in Pennsylvania and is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Following residency, Dr. Messmer served as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Navy, providing comprehensive care to service members and gaining invaluable clinical and surgical experience.

Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Messmer combines advanced surgical techniques with compassionate care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle.
