Dr. Kyle Judkins is a board-certified and fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine doctor with a broad knowledge of orthopedic injuries and conditions. As a sports doctor, Dr. Judkins specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of activity-limiting conditions that may be caused by injury, disease, or the normal process of aging. A core member of EmergeOrtho—Blue Ridge Region’s Urgent Care clinics, Dr. Judkins diagnoses and treats all nonoperative musculoskeletal injuries, conditions, and pain.

Education

Dr. Judkins received his ​​doctorate of osteopathy from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at Wake Forest University, where he provided sports-medicine coverage to several athletic organizations, including:

Dr. Judkins has received a Certificate of Added Qualification in sports medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine. As a sports medicine doctor, Dr. Judkins frequently diagnoses and treats injuries and conditions affecting these areas of the body:

  • Neck/shoulder, including frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement, and shoulder instability
  • Arm/elbow, including sprains and tennis or golf elbow
  • Hand/wrist, including carpal tunnel syndrome, mallet finger, and hand and wrist fractures
  • Hip/knee, including ligament tears and arthritis
  • Upper/lower leg, including fractures, joint dislocations, and shin splints
  • Foot/ankle, including Achilles tendon rupture and ankle sprains
