John D. Hewitt, MD

John Hewitt, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at EmergeOrtho. With fellowship training in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle disorders and injuries. These conditions can result from sports or traumatic injuries or conditions such as arthritis or diabetes and often require surgical treatment. Dr. Hewitt routinely cares for patients from pediatric to geriatric stages of life at both EmergeOrtho’s Greensboro and Asheboro locations.

Following a short career in accounting, Dr. Hewitt decided to change professions. He chose the field of medicine, specifically orthopedic surgery, for the opportunity to provide immediate and tangible benefits to people through his daily work. Dr. Hewitt served in the US Navy for four years after completing residency training at Duke University. He returned to his home state and Duke University in 2009 for a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery.

Providing care of the highest quality is the central focus of Dr. Hewitt’s approach to practicing medicine. He strives to educate patients about their condition and treatment options to allow them to make informed decisions about their care. As a member of the Triad Health Network leadership, he hopes to improve the delivery of healthcare and the health of residents of the Piedmont Triad region.

Dr. Hewitt is a proponent of living an active lifestyle. He is involved in community youth sports programs. Dr. Hewitt is an avid runner, cyclist, and CrossFit athlete.
