Meet Dr. Brent E. Fisher

Dr. Brent Fisher is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. As a dedicated sports medicine doctor, he specializes in helping athletes and active individuals recover from sports injuries and return to their desired activities safely.

Practicing primarily at EmergeOrtho’s orthopedic urgent care facilities in Weaverville, NC and Asheville, NC, Dr. Fisher offers expert care for both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, providing walk-in services for patients of all ages. With a focus on nonoperative treatment strategies, he uses techniques like musculoskeletal ultrasound evaluations and guided injections to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Fisher’s experience as a sports injury doctor is extensive, and his background in urgent care settings allows him to address a broad range of sports injuries with efficiency. Dr. Fisher’s medical training includes a prestigious Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, following his Family Medicine Residency at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. He also completed a Research Fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he later earned his Doctor of Medicine degree.

His academic foundation began at the University of Kentucky, where he graduated cum laude with dual degrees in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Fisher’s strong educational foundation has shaped his commitment to evidence-based medicine and innovative treatment approaches within the field of sports medicine. As a sports medicine doctor, he is passionate about using the latest advancements in research and treatment to support his patients’ recovery and athletic performance.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Fisher is actively involved in sports medicine at both the community and national levels. He serves as a team physician for several local high school and collegiate athletic programs and acts as the medical director for community sports leagues and a competitive soccer club. His expertise is frequently sought for national sports tournaments, where he provides on-site medical coverage. A well-published researcher in orthopedic and sports medicine journals, Dr. Fisher stays at the forefront of advancements in his field.
