Anthony J. Marois, MD

Anthony J. Marois, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine at EmergeOrtho. Dr. Marois sees patients in the Foothills Region at the Newton and Sherrills Ford locations. His clinical expertise involves using minimally invasive arthroscopic and open techniques to treat injuries and degenerative conditions of the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow in adult and pediatric patients with active lifestyles.

Originally from Upstate New York, Dr. Marois came to North Carolina to complete his undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University, where he studied Health & Exercise Science and competed as a Division I Track and Field athlete specializing in the 1500m. He earned his MD from Wake Forest School of Medicine and discovered his passion for orthopedics. Dr. Marois trained as an orthopedic resident at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN, where he worked with world-renowned faculty and gained extensive experience treating fractures at a Level One Trauma Center. He further developed his expertise through a high-volume orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center and the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Marois has extensive experience in athletic team coverage and treating athletes of all levels. During his training, he served as a team physician for Mississippi College (NCAA DII Football) and Germantown High School, and also assisted with coverage for Ole Miss (NCAA D1 Football), the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA), the Memphis Redbirds (AAA Baseball), and the University of Memphis (NCAA DI Basketball).

Dr. Marois is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He has made significant contributions to the field through his published research on topics including shoulder and elbow arthroscopic techniques, outpatient shoulder arthroplasty, and pain management following rotator cuff repair.

Outside of work, Dr. Marois is passionate about running and golf. He has previously qualified for and completed the Boston Marathon. He is excited to return to North Carolina where he can continue his support for the Carolina Panthers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
