Angela Ebert (previously Capilupo) is a physical therapist at our EmergeOrtho | Summerfield Physical Therapy Clinic who primarily cares for patients suffering from neck and back pain. She originally joined our EmergeOrtho Triad Region team in 2005 after working as a physical therapist in a hospital setting. It was with us, she began to specialize in spine care. Angela became credentialed by the McKenzie Institute in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). The McKenzie Method is an innovative approach utilized by physical therapists and other healthcare practitioners to evaluate and treat neck, back, as well as extremity injuries and conditions. This method is characterized by active patient involvement and patient education. Angela has since earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
In August of 2017, Angela became certified in Personalized Blood Flow Restriction (PBFR). She uses this modality with all types of patients ranging from post-surgical patients to performance athletes. Her patients have benefited from PBFR with documented increases in strength, hypertrophy, & endurance. “PBFR is a complete game-changer in the rehabilitation process. I have seen it first-hand both as a patient, myself, and professionally, as a physical therapist. Recovery of strength and function just happens so much faster when PBFR is used with exercise” says Angela.
Angela shares her love of education and professional advancement with colleagues and with those just beginning their career in Physical Therapy. Since May of 2019, Angela has served as a Teaching Assistant in the High Point University Physical Therapy program and cares for patients in the High Point University’s Pro-Bono Physical Therapy Clinic. Most recently in 2021, she became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (OCS).
Angela is responsible for coordinating the Clinical Education within the Therapy Services Department at EmergeOrtho Triad Region. This includes organizing departmental education as well as coordinating clinical rotations of PT and PTA students from GTCC, HPU, ETSU and various other schools.
Angela’s motivation and determination to advance her education is also apparent when she is caring for her patients. She strives to deliver quality patient-centered care identifying her patient’s needs and goals to develop individualized treatment plans. Angela enjoys using her knowledge to assist her patients in resolving their pain, regaining their function, and returning to an active life.
