The EmergeOrtho Medical Team, Just Keeps Emerging Stronger

With the addition of three new orthopedic physician assistants to the EmergeOrtho team, our practice is made bigger, better and stronger—in order to provide the best care for our patients.

EmergeOrtho’s unparalleled team of board-certified and fellowship-trained specialists includes 28 physicians, 29 physician assistants and 37 physical therapists, all dedicated to delivering the highest level of orthopedic and spine care at a lower cost for patients.

The AccessOrtho team on Oleander Drive is made stronger with the addition of Carlie Black, PA-C. Carlie graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. After working as an EMT and a physical therapy tech, she earned a Master of Physician Assistant Medicine from the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. Experienced in general orthopedics and sports medicine, Carlie treats acute orthopedic injuries at our AccessOrtho orthopedic urgent care clinic on Oleander Drive.

Kayla Hall, PA-C holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina. She earned her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Wake Forest School of Medicine. During her training at Wake Forest, she completed a comprehensive series of preceptorships in a variety of disciplines. Kayla works with Richard S. Bahner, M.D. at our Shipyard Boulevard and Porter’s Neck locations.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and gaining several years of experience as an emergency department registered nurse, Tara Tarleton, PA-C graduated from Campbell University’s Physician Assistant Program. During her clinical year, she completed an elective rotation with an orthopedic trauma surgery team, and now works with orthopedic trauma surgeons Christopher D. Parks, M.D. and Neil R. MacIntyre III, M.D., seeing patients at our Shipyard Boulevard location.

EmergeOrtho provides comprehensive care that ranges from doctor visits to physical and hand therapy, and from accredited diagnostic imaging to advanced surgery. Many locations also offer same-day appointments and orthopedic urgent care, as well as onsite MRI services.

Within the practice, experienced experts specialize in: spine, sports medicine, joint replacement and reconstruction, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, podiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), orthopedic trauma and interventional pain management.

The addition of these three outstanding physician assistants furthers our mission of helping patients emerge from illness or injury…stronger, healthier and better.
