Emergeortho Wilmington: We Are Now Offering Telemedicine Appointments and Continuing To Serve You With In-Office Visits

In this time of uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, EmergeOrtho is currently offering you three ways to get the care you need.

TELEMEDICINE (VIRTUAL CARE)

Patients who do not have to be physically present to receive care can schedule a convenient virtual office visit with an EmergeOrtho provider. Existing patients can continue their care without interruption, and new patients can receive consultations.

To request a telemedicine virtual visit, call your provider’s care coordinator or for new patients please call (910) 332-3800.

SAME-DAY APPOINTMENTS & IN-OFFICE VISITS

You can still request regular and same-day appointments at many of our locations by calling ahead to (910) 332-3800.

URGENT ORTHOPEDIC CARE

EmergeOrtho is treating orthopedic injuries at its locations in New Hanover, Brunswick and Onslow counties. While the AccessOrtho location on Oleander Drive in Wilmington is temporarily closed, our walk-in orthopedic urgent care services are available at our 2716 Ashton Drive Wilmington location and in Jacksonville at 2000 Brabham Avenue, Suite 100. Please visit EmergeOrtho.com to learn more.

Essential and Accessible

Orthopedic care is essential, not only to treat new and ongoing conditions, but also to ease the burden on emergency rooms and hospitals that are dedicating their resources and staff to those who are affected by the coronavirus.

At EmergeOrtho, we safely and responsibly care for our patients at all times and are following the guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Task Force (NCDHHS) concerning the coronavirus.

We are making every effort to protect our patients and staff as we continue to provide essential care during this health crisis. Our safety precautions include screening patients before they can be seen in our offices, so please see the attached link for important information on symptoms and other concerns.

Increasing The Use of Telemedicine

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed so much of our daily lives, and EmergeOrtho is responding with alternate ways to deliver medical care. In addition to providing safe in-office visits, we are increasing our ability to see patients from the comfort of their own homes utilizing secure HIPAA-compliant telemedicine technology.

As always, our EmergeOrtho doctors and staff are committed to your privacy, ensuring that your information is safely protected. EmergeOrtho has selected a telemedicine partner who maintains high standards of security and privacy where data is encrypted, your sessions are anonymous, and none of your information is stored. Our vendor adheres to HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR data privacy requirements.

It’s easy to access EmergeOrtho’s telemedicine services on your phone, computer or other smart devices. There is no need to create an account or login to see your provider. You will be sent a link, check in to the virtual waiting room, and your provider will start the virtual visit when he or she is ready.

Among the benefits of telemedicine, you can:

  • be seen and treated from anywhere
  • maintain physical distance from others
  • review diagnostic test results, including x-rays and MRIs
  • easily schedule an appointment at (910) 332-3800

When Is Telemedicine Appropriate?

While emergency orthopedic issues, such as fractures, sprains, strains and infections obviously cannot be treated virtually, many conditions can.

Consider using telemedicine services for:

  • Follow-up visits for ongoing conditions
  • Some post-surgical appointments
  • Non-emergency musculoskeletal injuries and conditions
  • Physical therapy, including treatment and consultations
  • New patient visits

If you are not sure whether your orthopedic issue is suitable for a telemedicine visit, simply call scheduling at (910) 332-3800 and we will evaluate whether you can be seen virtually or need to be seen in our office.

Will Insurance Cover Virtual Visits?

Insurance companies, too, are embracing this method of healthcare delivery, especially since the current health guidelines recommend physical distancing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Please confirm coverage with your insurance provider.

At EmergeOrtho, it’s our mission to provide you with exceptional orthopedic care, no matter what challenges come our way.
