Wilmington, NC – August 22, 2024 – EmergeOrtho – Coastal Region is proud to announce its expanded partnership with the Wilmington Hammerheads and the City of Wilmington by becoming the official healthcare provider and sports medicine team for the highly anticipated nCino Sports Park. This partnership positions EmergeOrtho – Coastal Region as the premier provider of healthcare services for the esteemed $20+ million project that will serve as the region’s home for a variety of youth sports.
With more than 45 orthopedic specialists and a team of advanced practice providers, EmergeOrtho – Coastal Region delivers a wide range of services including comprehensive orthopedic and spine care, orthopedic urgent care, advanced ACR-accredited imaging, and unmatched sports medicine programs led by certified athletic trainers and physical therapists.
As the largest physician-owned orthopedic practice in North Carolina and the fifth largest in the country, EmergeOrtho brings decades of experience and knowledge with more than 60 locations in 28+ counties across its five regional service areas: Blue Ridge, Coastal, Foothills, Triad, and Triangle.
Situated in the heart of Wilmington, the nCino Sports Park is a new, state-of-the-art facility featuring 11 fields with advanced lighting systems, artificial turf and a multi-purpose building. The new structure, which has already won an award for its design, houses restrooms, information outlets, and an open space that will serve as a central gathering place for athletes and spectators.
Managed and operated by the Wilmington Hammerheads, the city-owned park is poised to host an estimated 140,000 annual visitors, serving as a central hub for youth sports, including YMCA soccer, Hammerheads soccer, lacrosse, rugby, ultimate frisbee, and Pop Warner football. In addition, the facility will host a variety of major youth sports tournaments.
For decades, EmergeOrtho’s team of sports medicine specialists have served as team physicians for UNCW Athletics, Cape Fear Community College, the Wilmington Sharks baseball club, and many area high school athletic teams. In April of this year, EmergeOrtho also provided sports medicine coverage for top collegiate athletes at the 2024 ACC Women’s Golf Championship, held in Wilmington.
The practice also owns and operates six orthopedic urgent care locations, ensuring that athletes and visitors receive immediate and comprehensive care.
